Privacy Policy

Last updated: 14 October 2026

This policy explains what information the MyPets: Pet Care Tracker app ("MyPets") collects, why, where it's kept and what you can do about it. We've tried to keep it short and in plain English.

1. Who we are

MyPets is provided by Sacha Miller, trading as Yoppie Creates, 71–75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom ("we", "us"). We are the controller of the personal data described in this policy. For any privacy question or request, email support@mypets-tracker.com.

2. What MyPets is

MyPets helps you organise care for your animals. It is a record-keeping tool, not a veterinary service, and it does not diagnose or give medical advice.

3. What we collect and why

Information Why Legal basis (UK GDPR)
Account: your email address and password, or, if you use Sign in with Apple, an Apple account identifier and the email address Apple shares with us (this can be a private relay address). Passwords are stored in hashed form by our sign-in provider; we never see them. To create and secure your account and send account emails (confirming your email, resetting your password, security notices). Contract
Profile: your first name or nickname, country, time zone, measurement units, and when you accepted our terms. To personalise the app and schedule reminders at the right local time. Contract
Your pets and care records: pet profiles (for example name, kind of animal, sex, birth date, ID numbers, diet, allergies, conditions), the entries you log (such as feeding, walks, weights, sheds, vet visits, medications and notes), reminders, and vet contact details you save. To provide the app and back up your records so you don't lose them. Contract
Walk routes: only if you record a walk with location turned on. The route, distance and duration are saved with that walk entry. See Location and walk routes. To show your walk on a map and work out the distance. Contract
Subscription status: whether you have MyPets Plus, which plan, and its trial, renewal and expiry dates, which we receive from Apple via RevenueCat. We never receive your card or bank details. To unlock membership features. Contract
Care guide requests: if you tap "Let us know you'd like this guide", the kind of animal you asked about. To decide which care guides to write next. Legitimate interests (improving the guides people ask for)
Marketing preference: whether you asked for occasional tips and news (off unless you turn it on). We don't send marketing emails at the moment. If we start, we'll only email people who turned this on, and every email will have an unsubscribe link. To respect your choice. Consent
Security logs: our database and sign-in provider keeps technical logs of sign-ins and requests to our servers, including IP addresses. To keep accounts and the service secure and to fix problems. Legitimate interests (security)

We don't make decisions about you using automated processing or profiling.

4. What stays on your phone

  • A working copy of your records is kept in a database on your phone, so MyPets works offline. When you sign out, the app removes your records from that phone. They stay in your backup and come back when you sign in again.
  • Photos (pet profile photos and photo entries) are stored only on the phone where you added them. Before saving, the app resizes each photo and removes its location and other hidden details. Photos are not uploaded to our servers and are not part of your backup, so if you delete the app or lose your phone, the photos on it are lost. The text of a photo entry (such as its caption) is backed up like any other entry.
  • Reminders and notifications are scheduled on your phone by iOS. Their content is not sent through our servers or a push notification service.
  • Widgets show information from the copy of your records on your phone.
  • Your sign-in session is kept in your iPhone's secure keychain.

5. Location and walk routes

  • MyPets only asks for your location when you start recording a walk. It asks for "While Using the App" permission. It only asks for "Always" permission if you turn on the option to keep tracking while your phone is locked, and even then it only uses your location during a walk you started.
  • When you save the walk, its route, distance and duration are stored with that walk entry and backed up to your account like your other records. You can delete a walk entry at any time.
  • On iPhone, the walk map is drawn by Apple Maps.
  • "Find vets near me" and similar buttons open Apple Maps or Google Maps with a search. MyPets doesn't use your location for this. The maps app handles the search under its own privacy policy.
  • We don't use your location for anything else, and we never share it or use it for advertising.

6. What we don't do

  • We don't sell your data or use it for advertising.
  • We don't track you across other apps or websites, and we don't use advertising identifiers.
  • We don't use any analytics or crash-reporting tools. If something goes wrong in the app, it shows a message on your screen; nothing is sent to us automatically. If you email us a screenshot, we only use it to help you.
  • We don't access your contacts.

7. Who processes data for us

We use a small number of service providers ("processors") to run MyPets. They act on our instructions under data processing terms and may not use your data for their own purposes.

Provider What they do What they get
Supabase Our database, account sign-in and cloud backup. Our project is hosted in the European Union (Ireland). Everything in your account: email address and sign-in details, profile, pets and care records, walk routes, subscription status, care guide requests and marketing preference, plus security logs including IP addresses.
RevenueCat Manages MyPets Plus subscriptions bought through the App Store and tells our server whether a membership is active. A random account ID (not your name or email), your App Store purchase and subscription history for MyPets, and basic technical details such as app version, device type and App Store country.
Apple Takes payment for subscriptions through the App Store, and provides Sign in with Apple if you choose to use it. Apple handles your payment and Apple ID under its own privacy policy; for App Store payments Apple is responsible for its own processing. We receive only your subscription status, never card details.
Resend Sends our account emails (confirming your email, resetting your password and security notices). Your email address and the content of those emails.

8. Where your data is stored and international transfers

Your records are kept on your phone and backed up with Supabase in the European Union (Ireland). The UK recognises the EU as providing adequate protection for personal data.

RevenueCat, Apple and Resend are based in the United States and may process the data described above in the US. Where personal data is transferred outside the UK, we rely on safeguards recognised under UK law, such as the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework (for providers certified under it) or the UK International Data Transfer Addendum to the standard contractual clauses included in each provider's data processing terms. You can ask us for more information about these safeguards.

9. Sharing

We only share your information with the providers listed above, or where the law requires us to (for example, a valid request from a court or the police).

MyPets doesn't currently let you share your pets with other people. If we add a way to invite family or a sitter, we'll update this policy before it goes live. If you export your data and send it to someone (for example your vet), what they do with it is up to them; we can't recall exported copies.

10. How long we keep data

  • While your account is open, we keep your records so you always have your pets' history.
  • Entries you delete go to "Recently deleted", where you can restore them for 30 days. After that they're removed.
  • When you delete your account, we delete your account and records from our servers (see Deleting your account). Copies in our database provider's routine backups are removed automatically as those backups expire, within 30 days.
  • Security logs are kept by our providers for a limited period and then deleted.
  • Our own log of your subscription events is deleted with your account. Apple and RevenueCat keep their own records of purchases, as they're required to (for example for tax).
  • If you email us, we keep the conversation for as long as we need it to help you, and no longer than two years after it ends.

11. Deleting your account

You can delete your account at any time in the app: Settings → Delete account. This deletes your account and all your data from our servers and from your phone. It can't be undone, so you may want to export your data first (Settings → Export my data).

Deleting your account doesn't cancel a subscription bought through Apple. To stop being charged, cancel it in your iPhone's Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions. You can also email us and ask us to delete your account.

12. Your rights

Under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018) you have the right to:

  • access your data and get a copy of it (in the app: Settings → Export my data, which creates a complete file you can keep or take to another service);
  • correct it (you can edit your records in the app, or ask us);
  • delete it (Settings → Delete account, or ask us);
  • restrict or object to how we use it, including where we rely on legitimate interests;
  • withdraw consent at any time where we rely on consent (such as marketing).

To use any of these rights, email support@mypets-tracker.com. We'll reply within one month. We may need to check it's really you, for example by asking you to email us from the address on your account.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, please tell us first so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK data protection regulator: ico.org.uk or 0303 123 1113.

13. Security

Data travels between the app and our servers over encrypted connections, and our database provider encrypts stored data. Access controls on our database mean each account can only reach its own records. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data, and if a breach affected you, we would tell you and the ICO where the law requires.

14. Children

MyPets is intended for adults and is not directed at children under 13. It is not in the App Store's Kids category. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we'll delete it.

Care guides link to their sources, and some buttons open other services such as maps or the RCVS "Find a Vet" register. Those websites and apps have their own privacy policies, which we don't control.

16. Changes to this policy

We'll update this page when anything changes and change the "Last updated" date. If a change is important, we'll also tell you in the app before it takes effect.
